Dear Sponsors, I hope that everything is going well in the States. Some great things have been going on with the youth groups, sponsorship program, and Comayagua. Here is an update from Michael Miller on what has been happening:
Hello Sponsors;
Glenda and I just wanted to update all of you in how the ministry is doing and all that we have been up to since our return to Honduras.
Contracts are signed and all 295 sponsored students are in school. We have purchased all of the school supplies, shoes and sneakers, and uniforms. It is unbelievable we are ahead of schedule. Which is good for us because we are back to work with our youth groups and working at the Junior/Senior High School with Juan de Dios and our team.
Our Satellite youth groups are growing in #'s and spiritually. We are so proud of Carlos for leading these two groups. Our main youth group has lost some of our youth. Reason being is that many are now older in age and it is time for them to move on because some are married and have children, some of them have jobs and they are working nights and weekends, and some are studying nights in the University for furthering their education. We are proud of all of them and know this is apart of the growth process.
Yesterday we were in Comayagua with the Squatters project and it is no more that name. It is called the Colonia 25 de Octubre. The people have WON their properties and their rights. They are having their lands surveyed by the government and a main road has been bulldozed. However the poverty still exists. They are in need of wells, solar pumps to pump up the water and irrigate the land for a 3 season a year crop. This will help feed the people off their own land. The youth group with their own tithe purchased school supplies and made 200 packets to make sure the children can study. Our youth donated $500 from their tithe and offerings to make this happen and the children were so happy to receive these packets. Many told our youth that they were not doing homework because they didn't have a pen or a notebook to write in. They do now!!! Our Home Church plants are growing and they are hungry for the Word of God. It was a very encouraging day for everyone.
The photos we are sending are example of the long lines our sponsored children have to wait in just to receive the letters they need to go and put on lay-away shoes, sneakers and uniforms. This is a two day process. From 1pm to 5pm
